At Harleyville Southern Methodist Church, we are a Christ-centered, family-focused community where everyone is welcome. Since 1972, we’ve grown from a small gathering of believers into a Spirit-filled church dedicated to worship, fellowship, and serving others. With ministries for all ages, there’s a place here for you to grow in faith, build lasting relationships, and experience the love of God.

We are committed to serving our town and surrounding areas through outreach, fellowship, and support for those in need. Our church is more than a building—it’s a gathering place where people of all ages can belong, build lasting relationships, and experience God’s love in action. Whether through ministries, events, or everyday acts of kindness, we strive to make a positive impact and be a light in our community.
DOCTRINES AND BELIEFS
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.
2. We believe there is but one living and true God, everlasting, Creator, omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient.
3. We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and surrendered his life on the Cross of Calvary for the forgiveness of sins and the granting of eternal life to all who believe and accept him as their personal Savior. He died upon the cross and three days later rose again.
4. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity, who convicts of sin, comforts and guides each believer.
5. We believe that salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ.
6. We believe the church was instituted by Jesus Christ for worship, the preaching of the Gospel, the fellowship of believers, and the work of the Lord.
7. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming again and we eagerly and joyfully look for that day.

OUR HISTORY
The Harleyville Southern Methodist Church was organized and began its ministry on November 19, 1972 with their first worship services held in the American Legion/Jaycee Hut. It began with approximately 37 adults and children who loved the Lord and His true Word. Together they dedicated themselves to preaching the true Gospel of Salvation through Jesus Christ and being His Church.
In early December 1972, the members voted to unite with the Southern Methodist Denomination and selected the name The Harleyville Southern Methodist Church. A Ground breaking ceremony was held on March 3, 1973 and dedication on November 18, 1973.
The fellowship of believers increased in numbers and ministries to the community. A new sanctuary was dedicated on November 19, 1978 and the previous sanctuary became the Fellowship Hall and Sunday School area.
Our worship services are traditional, family focused, and always seeking to honor the Father, the Son, and to be Spirit filled.
